If you would like us to re-generate that exact email to you, just open a helpdesk ticket and request us to re-issue that email (make sure you have the domain name, your email address and the username for the account). NO PASSWORDS WILL BE INCLUDED IN THIS EMAIL.

The generic information is as follows (replace YOURDOMAIN.COM and YOURUSERNAME as appropriate):

  • For email and FTP, please use mail.affordablesite.com and ftp.affordablesite.com until your domain name is transferred. Then the login should be changed to:
    Mail Server: mail.YOURDOMAIN.COM (pop and smtp)
    FTP Server: ftp.YOURDOMAIN.COM
    Note: Some ISP mail accounts (Earthlink is an example) block port 25 therefore you may have to use their smtp settings to send mail.(although you should not have any problem picking up mail).
  • Date: /bin/date
  • Sendmail: /usr/lib/sendmail
  • Perl5: #!/usr/bin/perl
  • Root path: /home/YOURUSERNAME/ (puts you in your the root of your account)
  • Domain directory: /home/YOURUSERNAME/public_html (html files and images go in your public_html directory)
  • Cgi-bin path: /home/YOURUSRNAME/public_html/cgi-bin/filename (puts you in your cgi-bin)
  • Master Email Account: Main email account is YOURUSERNAME@YOURDOMAIN.COM
  • Webmail is located at http://www.YOURDOMAIN.COM/webmail/ (Note Trailing slash)

  • We do not allow clients to install their own CGI chat rooms. These tend to use excessive system resources. Resource hogs' such as flat file discussion/forum scripts are not allowed! In fact, any script that uses excessive system resources will be asked to move to a dedicated server or be disabled. This is to protect all users on the servers. If a low volume forum is required, use a MySQL / php script.
    Here are a few examples of scripts which either cause a great load on the servers or pose a serious security risk, therefore can not be run on the servers: Any gaming server software, UltimateBBS (all versions), Ikonboard (all versions), IRC, Proxy Servers, nph-proxy, The Anonymizer
  • Spamming, or the sending of unsolicited email, from an AffordableSite account or using an email address that is maintained at AffordableSite is STRICTLY prohibited. Equally, any email or Usenet spam which points to any domain hosted on a AffordableSite account will result in immediate suspension of that domain name account and a full investigation.
  • AffordableSite is in no way responsible for down time either resulting from a users actions, or natural fluctuations in internet consistency. AffordableSite will however, do everything within it's power to assure that each and every client site is up as consistently as possible.
